Saint Francis Health System Selects HealthGate’s Collaboration Architect to Facilitate Hospital-Wide Document Standardization Effort

SaaS Application Enables Physicians and Other Clinical Staff to Easily Manage Order Set Updates and other Documents

BURLINGTON, MASS., AUGUST 21, 2007 — Saint Francis Health System of Tulsa, Oklahoma, has implemented HealthGate’s Collaboration Architect to streamline the review and approval process of order sets, policies and procedures, and other clinical and operational documents. Delivered in a Software as a Service (SaaS) model, Collaboration Architect enables physicians, nurses and other hospital staff to quickly implement the application with limited or no IT involvement.

Saint Francis selected HealthGate Data Corp. (www.healthgate.com) and its Collaboration Architect application to standardize care, reduce variation in practices, and enhance physician participation and engagement in these activities. Because Collaboration Architect gives participating physicians a single task notification screen that consolidates pertinent documents, specific instructions and colleagues’ comments, the adoption of the system was immediate and widespread. The tool also enables rapid-cycle update as new research, evidence, and treatments emerge.

“Saint Francis did not need additional order sets from a third party, we had several orders sets already created by St. Francis physicians,” said David Thomas, M.D., Chief Medical Officer, Saint Francis Health System. “We needed a process for synthesizing these materials, and we knew that we wanted a system created specifically for healthcare, not one that required adapting. We also wanted a system that our end-users could easily work with, in order to ensure system-wide buy-in. HealthGate’s Collaboration Architect fully met our requirements.”

Collaboration Architect is a web-based document and task management application that greatly accelerates the process of reviewing, editing and approving complex documents such as clinical decision support content, order sets, policies and procedures, by-laws, and other clinical and operational materials. Specifically designed to help hospital teams accelerate document standardization efforts and reduce the need for costly, inefficient committee work, Collaboration Architect enables hospitals and health systems to rapidly and effortlessly solicit contributions from geographically-dispersed participants. This asynchronous collaboration model fosters greater physician participation and reduces the total cost of standardization efforts.
