Lutheran Health Network Selects HealthGate for Online Collaboration and Document StandardizationInnovative Management Application to Facilitate Pre-CPOE Content Standardization at Northeastern Indiana Hospitals BURLINGTON, MASS., SEPTEMBER 5, 2007 — HealthGate Data Corp. (www.healthgate.com) announced today that the Lutheran Health Network, LHN, consisting of seven hospitals in northeastern Indiana, has deployed HealthGate’s breakthrough solution, Collaboration ArchitectSM, to facilitate document and care process standardization in conjunction with its CPOE implementation. Collaboration Architect is a web-based document and task management application that greatly accelerates the process of reviewing, editing and approving complex documents such as clinical decision support content, order sets, policies and procedures, by-laws, and other clinical and operational materials. Specifically designed to help hospital teams accelerate document standardization efforts and reduce the need for costly, inefficient committee work, Collaboration Architect enables hospitals and health systems to rapidly and effortlessly solicit contributions from geographically-dispersed participants. This asynchronous collaboration model fosters greater physician participation and reduces the total cost of standardization efforts. “The process of collaborating on, and standardizing both clinical and operational documents is a time-consuming and costly aspect of any health system’s operations,” said Bill Reece, CEO of HealthGate. “By equipping Lutheran Health Network with a broad set of document management and collaboration tools, we are working to improve the efficiency of their CPOE roll-out and facilitate the larger effort of document standardization across the enterprise”. With a reputation for innovation, Lutheran Health Network and its leaders have used Collaboration Architect to synthesize materials from various sources, including documents supplied by third-party content providers, as well as documents developed in-house, like forms and policies. Because Collaboration Architect was designed exclusively to meet the needs of time-pressed hospital staff by closely adapting internal review methodologies to a new, efficient online process, the application was quickly embraced by teams ranging from clinical departments to operational and administrative groups. In addition, Collaboration Architect enables LHN to create an online integration team that includes outside parties such as specialists from the network’s CPOE system developer, McKesson.
